I am accepting applications from prospective Ph.D. students broadly interested in global plant-water relations. The student would work on the plant use of bedrock-stored water, an emerging research frontier of global relevance. Texas State University is located on the edge of the Edwards Plateau in Central Texas, one of a handful of active research sites worldwide for investigating bedrock water use by plants.
Successful applicants will have a solid general science education and an interest in vegetation modeling and/or field techniques for monitoring soil and bedrock water and plant transpiration and be part of an emerging regional research community. Upon acceptance, the student would be fully funded through instructional assistantships in the Department of Biology at Texas State University.
Persons interested in this opportunity should contact Dr. Susan Schwinning ([email protected]) with the following attachments: a Curriculum Vitae, the names and contact information of three references and a 1-2 page statement of research interests and qualifications. Further information is available at my website: www.susan-schwinning.net/Lab, which also has links to the Department’s and The University’s web pages.
