Graduate Position at Sonoma State University

Three fully funded M.S. positions have just become available in the Bentley Lab at Sonoma State University (http://lisapatrickbentley.org/) for the 3DForests Project starting in Fall 2022 (applications due Jan 15, 2022). Ideally, incoming students will be hired as field assistants for 3DForests for full time field and/or computer processing work in California from June-August 2022 before the Fall semester begins.
3DForests focuses on the use of terrestrial laser scanning of forests in Northern CA to investigate effects of forest management, wildfire, and disease on forest structure, carbon accounting and modeling of future wildfire risk.
Time is short, but the application is very straightforward and no GRE scores are required (https://biology.sonoma.edu/programs/master/applying). Those who are interested can email Dr. Bentley ([email protected]) to discuss the position before applying. If you decide to apply without contacting Dr. Bentley, please make sure to mention your 1) research interests, 2) experience with field work and 3) skills related to spatial data processing, modeling, or coding (e.g., RiScan, R, python, LAStools, etc) in your Statement of Purpose.
