A research assistantship is available starting in Spring 2022. This is a M.S. level position in the Marine and Environmental Biology Program at Nicholls State University. The potential RA would join the Clay Ectotherm Lab under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Clay. The RA would become a member of a 2-year project that aims to characterize the movements and habitat use of Diamondback Terrapins in coastal waters of Louisiana through the use of acoustic telemetry. At a minimum, students should have a B.S. in Biology or related field, with an interest in conservation, ecology, and herpetology.
Ideal candidates will have previous experiences with acoustic or radio telemetry, herpetology, boat driving and trailering, as well as successfully working with a team. Experience with R and maintaining databases would also be an asset, but is not required. This assistantship will pay a stipend of $18,000/year for two years and will also cover 2 semesters of tuition.
