WACCBIP Research Conference 2021

The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) is organising the fifth in its series of annual research conferences to provide a platform for graduate students of the Centre to present their research work to a wider audience of national, regional, and international senior scientists. The conference will also host several keynote and plenary addresses delivered by prominent invited guests and international collaborators of the Centre.

The conference will be held between July 21-23, 2021.

About WACCBIP

WACCBIP is a leading centre of excellence, building global partnerships with world-class research institutions and funding organisations. WACCBIP received an initial $8M from the World Bank as part of the World Bank’s African Centres of Excellence. Researchers from the University of Ghana proposed the establishment of the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) at Legon. The proposal was led by faculty from the Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (BCMB), and the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), with support from staff of the University of Ghana Computing Systems (UGCS).Currently, WACCBIP have expanded their primary source of funding from the World Bank ACE project and ensured prolonged sustainability of by securing additional funding from the Wellcome Trust DELTAS grant and additional grants mobilised by faculty and collaborators. The Centre is currently led by ren Professor Gordon Awandare.
